In the spirit of the FedEx Cup and the Ryder Cup, we will have a league starting 9-1-22 for the StillWaters Cup Tournament Participants. The points will be calculated just like we do at the annual tournament. Each hole counts one point and any tied holes result in ½ point to each player. These points will count towards the overall individual Stillwaters Cup Champion.
To be eligible to participate in the league, you must be signed up for the Stillwaters Cup Challenge that will take place on October 5th, 6th and 7th, 2022.
There is no additional cost to play in the league but 1st Place will pay $250, 2nd $150 and 3rd $100. This is in addition to the prizes to be awarded following the tournament. The league points attained in September and your points during the tournament will be totaled for purposes of this prize. The other Stillwaters Cup Prizes will work like they have in the past. The top ranked players going into the Tournament will benefit with bonus points in reverse of standings. For example, if there are a total of 20 league participants, the person in first place will receive 20 bonus points and the person in last place will receive 1 bonus point for purposes of calculating this prize.
During the month of September you can choose your matches with anyone else who is participating in the Stillwaters Cup. You can play individual matches or play with a partner in match play style like we do at the Cup. If playing with a partner, your points will count just like they do at the cup. You can play the same opponents more than once. You must text Brad a Legible copy of your card completed correctly. I will keep the standings updated at least weekly on the Stillwaterscup.com website.
You may pick anyone to play against. Bob and I will have the list on website and the players will be rated. If you play up, meaning a B plays an A player, he will receive 2 shots per side but the strokes only get to birdie if it results in a tie of the hole. (Can’t win the hole with net birdie but you can win with a net par)
You will need to play at least 6 rounds during the month of September to be eligible for these points to count. You can play up to 10 rounds but we will only count 6. For example, if you play 10 rounds and average 11 points you will have 66 points. The player who only plays 6 rounds will receive his total points. This will allow for strategy in how many rounds you play in September. The Tour Standings will be posted as a winning percentage based on how many holes you have played to that point.
One of the reasons for doing this is to get everyone signed up by September 1st so Bob and I can have plenty of time to set the matches and determine the teams. The other reason is to see how difficult it will be to do a league next year. I am thinking of having a spring, summer and fall season with the points being kept leading into next years tournament.
