The inaugural Stillwater’s Golf Cup Challenge was held on October 29th and 30th, 2015 and everyone involved felt this was a tremendous success. The team captains were Brad Dismukes and Doug Givens and they worked together to pick the teams as evenly as possible. They also set the matches to promote a high level of competition.  The Cup teams consisted of a total of 12 participants (6 on each team). Each Cup Team consisted of three 2 man teams. Each 2 man team played a 2 man team from the other team and each hole was worth one point. The teams were scheduled to play 27 holes the first day at FarmLinks Golf Course and 27 holes the second day at StillWaters Golf Course. 

The participants of the first StillWaters Cup were as follows: Brad’s team included the 2 man teams of himself and Bob Dansavage, Bill Gillespie and Rob Heard, and Russ Thompson and Ron Pinkard. Doug’s team consisted of himself and Bart Leswick, Lide Denny and James Petrunic, and Jeff Cox and Jeremy Smith. Bart had to back out at the last minute due to a migraine headache. The team captains agreed that Doug would use Jeremy’s scores for 9 holes and then Jamie’s scores for 9 holes for his best ball partner. Jack Oswalt filled in for Bart the second day. 

The captains decided to move the first day to Stillwater’s due to the recent rain at FarmLinks that would have made it cart path only. After the first day, the teams were tied with 39 ½ points each. The teams decided to go to Niffer’s for dinner that night for fellowship and some memorable conversation and debate concerning the day’s play. The second day was moved to AU Club in Auburn, AL and saw Doug’s team pull ahead to take the first StillWaters Cup due to the outstanding play from the duo of Jeff Cox and Jeremy Smith who also won the 2 man competition for the event. Russ Thompson and Lide Denny took the closest to the pin prizes.
